3-A SSI Releases Revised Sanitary Standard 21-02
McLEAN, Virginia - 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. has released the revision and newest edition of the 3-A Sanitary Standard for Centrifugal Separators and Clarifiers, Number 21-02. This is the third revision, with the first edition published in 2002, and a second edition in 2006. The standard is effective on June 14, 2022, and applies to the sanitary aspects of centrifugal separators or clarifiers used to separate fractions of milk or milk products or other liquid food products or to centrifugally remove dense phase material from products. Product enters at the product inlet(s) and exits at the product outlet(s) and the non-product discharge(s), when included. This 3-A Sanitary Standard does not apply to cyclonic types of separators, decanters, basket centrifuges and other types of devices. Centrifugal Separators (Separators) and Centrifugal Clarifiers (Clarifiers) are machines in which products are separated into their components or fractions using centrifugal force generated by a rotating chamber.
3-A Symbol-holders with the 21-01 Standard should contact their Certified Conformance Evaluators immediately to request a Third Party Verification Inspection and amendment report to show conformance to the new edition per the requirements of the TPV Manual and 3-A Symbol License Agreement available on our website www.3-a.org.
